Novena Prayer to Saint Lucy

Novena Prayer List

In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Act of Contrition

O holy God, I am most heartily sorry for having offended Your infinite majesty.  You are all goodness and love, mercy and justice, truth and beauty.  You are my God, alone worthy of all my love and all my endeavors.  Yet I have dared to offend You.  Look not upon my transgressions but upon my contrite heart.

O Jesus, my Redeemer, I am sorry for all my sins and for the transgression of all those who, whether through negligence, malice of human weakness, have offended Your merciful and all loving heart.  In particular, I am sorry for all the sins of blasphemy and impurity which, according to the revelation of Our blessed Mother, Our Lady of Grace, wound Your Most Sacred Heart and her Immaculate Heart so deeply.  I firmly resolve to sin no more and with all my power to prevent others from sinning.  Help me, O Lord, in this resolution, through that love by which You are one with the Father and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Prayers for the Novena

O Glorious St. Lucy, by your admirable faith, you declared to the tyrant that no one could take from you the Holy Spirit, who dwells in your heart as His temple, obtain for me from our Lord that I may be so blessed to live always in a holy and salutary fear of losing His grace, and to flee from everything that might be the occasion of my suffering, so grievous a loss.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  Amen.

Hail Mary full of grace; the Lord is with Thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.  Amen.

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.  As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen.

(In silence, mention the favor you want to obtain in this Novena.)

Pray for us, O St. Lucy,
that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let Us Pray

Mercifully hear us, O God of our salvation, that even as we rejoice in the constant faith of St. Lucy, Virgin and Martyr, we may also be instructed in sentiments of loving devotion to Thee, through Christ Our Lord.  Amen.

(Repeat for nine days)
